Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, reduce them to lowest terms, and convert them to decimals and percentages.
Fractions can only be added or subtracted over a common denominator. The simplest choice is the product of the denominators: 1/2 + 1/3 = (1·3 + 1·2) / 6 = 5/6. The calculator shows that step and reduces the answer straight away.
To multiply, multiply numerator by numerator and denominator by denominator — no common denominator needed. Division is multiplication by the reciprocal: 1/2 ÷ 3/4 = 1/2 · 4/3 = 2/3.
A fraction is put into lowest terms by dividing the numerator and denominator by their highest common factor. For 84/126 the HCF is 42, so the fraction reduces to 2/3.
Put them over a common denominator, add the numerators and reduce the result. The fraction calculator does all three steps and shows each one.
Divide the numerator and denominator by their highest common factor. The calculator prints the HCF next to the answer.
Divide the numerator by the denominator and multiply by 100. For 3/5 that is 0.6 · 100 = 60%.
Multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second — flip the divisor upside down and multiply.
